Types of Rowing

Sculling

In sculling, each rower uses two oars, one in each hand.
Examples include:

  • Single Sculls (1 rower)
  • Double Sculls (2 rowers)
  • Quadruple Sculls (4 rowers)
  • Octuple Sculls (8 rowers)
Sweep Rowing

In sweep rowing, each rower holds a single oar, positioned on either side of the boat.
Examples include:

  • Pair (2 rowers)
  • Four (4 rowers)
  • Eight (8 rowers)
